The Ondo State House of Assembly has finally screened and confirmed Olayide Adelami, who was nominated by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.
The governor had on Wednesday picked Adelami as his deputy governor-nominee and sent his name to the Assembly for screening and approval.
During the plenary on Thursday, the Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the letter that was sent by the Governor to the House for the consideration of the nominees.
According to the Deputy Speaker of the House, Abayomi Akinruntan, Adelami was properly screened before his confirmation.
Also, the Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, after ruling for the confirmation of Adelami as the deputy governor of Ondo State, congratulated him.
The Speaker of the Ondo State Assembly also tasked the deputy governor to partner with the governor towards building Ondo State.
The Speaker further pledged that the House will continue to support the Aiyedatiwa-led government in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
On his part, the new deputy governor appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for finding him worthy to be the second in command in the state.
He further promised the governor that he would not betray the confidence he has in him for any reason but would partner with him in building the state.
The new deputy governor also appreciated the Ondo State House of Assembly for their prompt response to the governor’s letter and for believing in him to work with Governor Aiyedatiwa.
News About Nigeria recalls that following the death of the immediate former governor of Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu, who died after battling prostate cancer, Aiyedatiwa who was the then deputy governor was immediately sworn in as the Governor of Ondo State.
After assuming the office of governor, Aiyedatiwa embarked on a search for a deputy governor until he finally nominated Adelami on Wednesday.
