Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have rescued 14 victims from kidnappers den, News About Nigeria reports.

The FCT Police Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed this on Thursday, stating that the anti-kidnapping unit and the Rubochi Division Police Headquarters secured the release of the victims after a gun duel that ensued between the operatives and the kidnappers.

She disclosed that the victims had been rescued on the eve of Wednesday, January 24, at a forest in a border community between Abuja and Nasarawa state.

She further disclosed that the combined team had stormed the kidnapper’s den located at Ukya village via Nasarawa state bordering FCT after receiving credible intelligence on their whereabouts.

She, however, noted that a gun duel had ensued between the team and kidnappers after the bandits sighted the police operatives and opened fire on them.

“The police operatives neutralised one of the kidnappers as the rest scampered to a nearby forest with various degrees of bullet wounds,” Adeh added.

She stated that the victims, who were rescued unhurt, have all been reunited with their families and loved ones.

Adeh assured the residents of the state of the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Haruna Garba’s commitment to ridding the Capital Territory of criminality in all its manifestations and maintaining peace for all and sundry.

According to her, Garba will work continuously and tirelessly to ensure that the residents are safe and free to go about their daily lives without fear.

“He equally urges residents to keep up swift rendition of distress calls and promptly report suspicious activities,” she added.
