Nigerian artiste, Gabriel Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, shocked fans when he announced his decision to quit music on Saturday for personal reasons.
News About Nigeria gathered that the ‘Akpako Master’ shared this news in a video on his Instagram account with the caption ‘It’s Been A Journey’.
In the video, Terry G expressed gratitude to his fans for their continuous support throughout the years and then dropped the bombshell.
He stated, “I’m about to make a big announcement, I know it’s gonna hurt a lot of people, but I have my personal reasons. I want to say that I am quitting music. I no dey do again. I’m done and I really appreciate you guys.”
However, he released another video via his Instagram page saying winners do not quit.
“What am I seeing online? Gabriel, your own is too much. Don’t mind Gabriel, he ‘misyarns’ anyhow. Winners never quit. Who say Terry G quit?” he said.
This has led to speculations that the videos were publicity stunts and that the singer is likely to release music soon.
In a recent interview, Terry G outlined his plans for 2024, including releasing new content, a single, an album, shooting a movie, and writing a book titled ‘Chante Chante: The Book of Ginjah’ to explain the meaning behind his unique expressions in music.
Last week, the artiste took to social media to express disappointment in his colleagues for not responding to his attempts to reach out during tough times.
He reminded them of the support he provided when they sought his help.
“We don’t have to die to be remembered and celebrated. We all contribute to the global music library of sounds. Just in case. I am back. Thank you for the wait.”
“But this is not fair na, I want you all to remember that you all came to me and I have you guys hits. Now I’m chatting you guys up, you don’t want to respond. Is it until I die?”
