Michael Bolton Announces Brain Tumour Diagnosis, Successful Surgery

Iconic singer Michael Bolton, 70, revealed in a heartfelt Facebook post on Friday that he has been diagnosed with a brain tumour, requiring immediate surgery, News About Nigeria reports.

The legendary artist, known for hits like ‘When a Man Loves a Woman’, shared the unexpected health challenge he faced as the year came to a close in 2023.

Bolton expressed gratitude for his ‘incredible medical team’, stating that the surgery was successful. The singer is currently recuperating at home with his family.

In the Facebook post, he informed fans that he would be taking a temporary break from touring to focus on his recovery.

“2023 ended up presenting [me] with some very unexpected challenges,” Bolton wrote. “It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.”

While the Grammy-winning artiste did not specify when he discovered the tumour, concerns about his health arose last month after his performance during the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade.

Fans noticed that Bolton appeared to be in discomfort during the performance.

Despite the temporary setback, Bolton assured fans that he is dedicated to his recovery and expressed appreciation for the unwavering support he has received over the years.

He concluded the message by thanking his supporters and promised to provide updates on his condition.

Fans flooded the comments section on both Facebook and Instagram with well-wishes for a speedy recovery.

The singer’s health had already raised concerns earlier in the month when he had to postpone a concert due to an unspecified illness.

Bolton was expected to kick off his tour on Feb. 1 in Florida, with plans to perform across the globe throughout the year, culminating in a final concert on Dec. 22 in Connecticut.
