Rivers Commissioner For Environment Joins Mmon, Resigns From Fubara's Cabinet

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has bagged the award of the International Peace Prize in 2023, News About Nigeria reports.

The award was presented to Governor Fubara by a UK-based newspaper, The Nigerian News.

In a statement, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, David Young, stated that the award was presented to the Governor in recognition of his purposeful leadership and firm belief in democracy and the rule of law.

He further noted that the Rivers state governor’s commitment to ensuring he delivers his mandate to the people was also another key factor that stood him out for the award.

Young also mentioned that Governor Fubara emerged as the winner of the award because of his courage and passion for his people, noting that, he is an exceptional leader who is committed to promoting peace and unity in his state and the world at large.

He lauded Fubara for standing strong and for embracing peace regardless of intimidation and oppression during the political crisis that broke out between him and his predecessor, who is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

He further noted that only a man with genuine interest and love for his people would embrace peace like the Rivers State Governor did.

The company went on to charge Fubara to continue in the way of peace while carrying out his primary assignment as the Governor of Rivers State.

They further advised him to shun all distractions that would come his way, noting that the award is a call towards deeper commitment to peacebuilding in Rivers, Nigeria, Africa, and the world at large.
