Police Begins Probe Into Abduction Of LG Chairman In Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has revealed that it has commenced a probe into the abduction of a local government chairman, Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, in the state, News About Nigeria reports.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this to newsmen in the state, stating that the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, had mobilised personnel to go after the hoodlums and rescue the chairman and one other person who was kidnapped unhurt.

DSP Nansel further disclosed that the command is collaborating and partnering with other security agencies in the state to carry out a manhunt, adding that they are currently on the trail of the kidnappers and will ensure that the council chairman and the other victim are rescued.

She appealed to the members of the public that anyone with information that would help in the rescue of the chairman and the second victim, especially those residing in the villages and their surrounding environs, should not hold back and should provide the police with such information to ensure that the victims are rescued and the perpetrators arrested and punished accordingly.

Recall that the Chairman of the Akwanga Local Government Area, LGA, and one Adamu Custom were kidnapped at Ningo village in Akwanga around 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also confirmed the event, stating that it was a sad and unfortunate event.

He urged the police to intensify its effort to ensure the culprits are apprehended and dealt with, and the LG Chairman and the other victim are rescued.
