A man identified as Ibrahim Salisu has been apprehended by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his brother, Malaimi Yellow, with a matchet in the Araromi Street, Sango-Ota area of the state, News About Nigeria reports.
It was gathered that the 54-year-old deceased had been allegedly pestering his little brother for sex, and when the suspect was tired of being harassed, he drew out a machete and ended the life of his brother.
The spokesperson for the command, Odutola Omolola, who confirmed the incident, stated that it occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Friday, adding that the suspect has confessed to committing the crime, maintaining that he did it to escape the harassment for sex he has been experiencing from his brother.
Odutola, however, stated that his case will be transferred once the preliminary investigation is completed, noting that the suspect was remorseful for the crime he committed.
She added that the corpse of Yellow has been recovered and deposited at the Ifo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
She, however, condemned the act, appealing to Nigerians to avoid taking matters into their own hands.
She urged Nigerians to always report any form of sexual abuse or harassment and not try to solve the issues themselves to avoid getting into more trouble while trying to leave one.
Also, according to the statistics of crime for December 2023, the police noted that before this incident, the state had recorded about 18 murder cases and an additional eight sexual-related offences across the state in the month alone.
