RiversWhy I Dropped Petition Against Fubara – LP Governorship Candidate

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election in Rivers State, Mrs. Beatrice Itubo, has opened up on why she dropped the petition against Governor Siminilayi Fubara, News About Nigeria reports.

Itubo, who made this known while speaking with newsmen in the state on Friday, revealed that she was sympathetic towards the governor and all he was facing with the political crisis in the state.

She said that the unrest and heated political climate currently ongoing in the state were already telling on the governor.

She stated that after consultations with stakeholders from the party, she decided to withdraw the petition at the Supreme Court against the governor to lessen the tumult going on in the state and also give the governor the needed space and freedom to remain focused on discharging his duties.

Itubo further noted that another reason that fueled her decision to withdraw the petition against the governor is the fact that she wants the state to be peaceful.

She maintained that the peace, progress and prosperity of the state were more important to her than her ambition to become governor.

According to her, meaningful development cannot take place in a state that is so problematic and has issues coming up, with everybody going their way every day.

She maintained that the significance of her actions will be visible in the state and will be seen as when peace is restored to the state, investors will troop in, which will in turn contribute to the transformation of Rivers State.
