Ondo Guber: Aiyedatiwa Receives 600 Defectors From PDP To APC

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has signed the 2024 appropriation bill of the state into law, News About Nigeria reports.

It can be recalled that the Ondo State House of Assembly had earlier passed the appropriation bill when Aiyedatiwa was the acting governor of the state.

The Governor had presented a sum of N384.5 billion to the Assembly but the House passed a sum of N395.257 billion, adding the sum of over N10 billion to the initial amount presented by the Governor.

Speaking during the event on Friday, Aiyedatiwa explained that in the budget which was tagged ‘Budget of economic resilience,’ N222,259,827,500.00 was earmarked for capital expenditure while N172,997,172,500.00 was for recurrent expenditure.

“After extensive deliberation involving interface with all MDAs and the judiciary, the size of the approved budget for 2024 stands at N395,257,000,000.00 only,” he said.

According to the Governor, the State’s House of Assembly carefully examined the budget and passed it appropriately.

He therefore lauded the speaker and members of the Ondo House of Assembly for the good job done and for ensuring prompt passage of the budget.

Aiyedatiwa also noted that his administration has been enjoying a cordial relationship with the legislature because of the good foundation and the legacy of the late Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

He further called on the legislature to continue partnering with his administration for a better Ondo and so they can effectively deliver the promises made to the people of the state.

News About Nigeria recalls that Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as the governor of Ondo State on Wednesday following the death of Akeredolu.

The former governor of Ondo State, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, gave up the ghost in Germany after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.
