Lagos Governor Pays Condolence Visit To Akeredolu's Family

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Friday.

The Lagos State Governor, who visited the residence of the late Ondo governor in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, revealed his visit in a post shared on his official X account by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat.

In the post shared, Sanwo-Olu sympathised with Akeredolu’s widow, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu and his children.

He also prayed that God Almighty grant the deceased eternal rest and also give his immediate family and the entire people of Ondo State the fortitude to bear the loss.

The post partly reads, “Governor of Lagos State, Mr #jidesanwoolu today paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN in Ibadan.”

Sanwo-Olu, while mourning the deceased governor, stated he would be greatly missed not just by his family but by the nation at large.

He also noted that Akeredolu, while on earth, truly lived and impacted in the various capacities that he led.

News About Nigeria recalls that the 67-year-old former Ondo Governor passed away on Wednesday morning in Germany, where he was undergoing treatment.

Akeredolu reportedly died of prostate cancer after battling the disease for a long time.

Before his tragic demise, the former Ondo state governor was the Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum and South West Governors Forum.

The late Akeredolu was also a one-time President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
