The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has mourned the passings of Ondo state governor Rotimi Akeredolu and the 8th Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba, who both died on Wednesday after protracted illnesses.

While sharing his relationships with the deceased in a statement shared on his official X account on Wednesday, the former Anambra state governor pointed out that their demise shows the nothingness of life and how it is important for everyone to remain firm in good works.

The LP Chieftain prayed for the late Akeredolu, mentioning that God, who called him home, would grant him eternal rest in His kingdom and also grant his immediate family and the people of Ondo State the fortitude to bear his loss.

For Na’Abba, he prayed that God would grant his family and the people of Kano State the fortitude to bear his loss and that God would forgive his sins and grant him eternal rest in his kingdom.

News About Nigeria reported that the Ondo State government, while confirming the demise of Akeredolu, revealed that the governor died on Wednesday in Germany after battling prostate cancer.

This was contained in a statement titled ‘It’s a sad day in Ondo State’, released by the state commissioner for information and orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju.

The 8th Speaker of the House of Representatives, who was born on September 27, 1958, died after battling with an ailment for a long time.

It was also gathered that, just like Akeredolu, the late Na’Abba who battled with an ailment for a long time before passing away, was also flown abroad for medical treatment and stayed there for some months before his return to Nigeria.
