Gov Alia Debunks Rumour Of Discord With Akume

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has debunked claims that he has issues with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, News About Nigeria reports.

Alia called the report false while celebrating Akume’s 70th birthday, describing the peddlers of the rumour as merchants of mischief.

He noted that the rumours were the imaginations of opportunists, instigators of turmoil, and merchants of mischief who thrived on chaos and were fueled by their desire to profit from the crisis.

He also assured the people of Benue State that he would do all within his constitutional powers to ensure that the people got the dividends of democracy, adding that the will of the masses who voted him into power would prevail.

He further stated that his government will not hesitate to address the various issues of discontentment that have arisen among those in government, maintaining that the relationship between the people and his government will not be misrepresented.

He, therefore, urged the people not to pay heed to the baseless notions but rather to turn their focus on the shared commitment to truth, unity, and progress that defines the collective journey of Benue State.

Celebrating Akume’s birthday, Alia described the secretary as the pillar of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, applauding him for his rise from just being a political creation to a creator in the political landscape of the state.

He stated that Akume remains one man who is always open-minded and flexible in the marketplace of ideas while being committed to the development of his people.
