Ngelale Justifies Tinubu's Intervention In States' Crisis

Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale has justified the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in states going through political crises like Ondo and Rivers State, News About Nigeria reports.

Ngelale made this known while speaking at a programme on Channels TV yesterday, maintaining that Tinubu did the right thing.

He noted that the president will continue to intervene in political crises in states across the federation, stating that Tinubu is only doing it for the interest of the nation, as no nation can thrive in chaos.

He also noted that another reason he supports the president’s intervention is that the intervention has everything to do with the political development of these states and nothing to do with the destabilisation of a particular region, state, or subnational entity that could potentially turn into a national conflagration.

According to him, the president cannot just sit back with arms folded and watch states tear themselves apart; he added that intervention is one of Tinubu’s duties as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Ngelale disclosed that, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the president must ensure that the Nigerian people are safe and that they can operate in an environment that is stable and does not place them in any form of insecurity.

He therefore maintained that the president did the right thing by stepping in when the security of the citizens became threatened by these political crises.

He also urged those seeing the intervention of the president as meddling to quit and join hands with Tinubu to restore peace and stability to the states.
