The police officer responsible for the shooting of movie director Azeez Ijaduade on a movie set in Ilisan Remo, Ogun State, has been arrested as investigations into the incident have commenced.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday at the Napoli Hotel Iperu Remo, where Ijaduade was with the cast of a movie currently under production.
News About Nigeria gathered that the manager of Napoli Hotel had alerted the Divisional Police Officer about the shooting incident during Bramaj Company’s end-of-year party in the hotel.
The mobile policeman attached to a Chinese expatriate allegedly fired a shot into the air, and the ammunition shell hit Azeez Ijaduade in the neck.
Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and provided details of the incident.
In a statement, she said, “The mobile policeman has been identified, and an investigation into the shooting incident has commenced by the command, adding that members of the public will be updated accordingly.”
Azeez Ijaduade was rushed to a hospital within Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, and is reported to be in stable condition.
The Commander of Mopol 16 has taken responsibility for the medical bill, and he has contacted the actor, assuring the public that updates on Ijaduade’s condition will be provided as he nears discharge.
His colleague, Odunlade Adekola, also visited him at the hospital, providing an update on his condition.
He informed his followers that Ijaduade is alive and responding well to treatment, sharing a video of Ijaduade and Biodun Adebanjo at the hospital, with the caption “Glory be to God @kingzeez1 is alive”.
