NSCDC Deploys 25,000 Personnel Nationwide For Yuletide Security

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of lives and critical infrastructure across the nation during the Yuletide season, News About Nigeria reports.

Dr. Ahmed Audi, the NSCDC Commandant General, announced the deployment of 25,000 personnel drawn from various tactical units for active surveillance.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Friday, Dr. Audi assured Nigerians that the NSCDC, in collaboration with sister agencies, is committed to providing security for citizens throughout the festive season.

The deployed officers will focus on active surveillance, particularly at entertainment centres, to ensure a peaceful celebration without fear.

Dr. Audi warned that the NSCDC is ready to deal decisively with any person or group intending to cause mayhem during the Yuletide season.

In Lagos State, the NSCDC deployed 2,500 personnel to maximise security during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The personnel from various NSCDC units will safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure.

Similarly, the NSCDC in Rivers State deployed 2,345 personnel to protect critical national assets during the period.

The Kaduna State Police Command also beefed up security, deploying regular and mobile policemen across the state to ensure water-tight security during and after the festive periods.

The command reassured the people of its readiness to respond swiftly to distressed calls and warned against any attempt to disrupt the peace.

In Sokoto State, the Nigeria Police Force deployed human and material resources across the state for the Yuletide celebration.

The deployment involves visibility policing at places of worship, event centres, and raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings, and shanties. The security measures aim to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season for residents.
