Attorney General, NBA, Others Back N300% Salary Increase For Judicial Officers

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has expressed strong support for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in its ongoing battle against economic and financial crimes as well as corruption, News About Nigeria reports.

Fagbemi said that the agency has a crucial role to play in the commission of President Bola Tinubu’s plan to establish a culture of accountability in governance.

The AGF made these statements at the unveiling of the new office complex of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC in Kwara State on Thursday.

Fagbemi noted that the government’s top priority continues to be the recovery and repatriation of Nigeria’s stolen money.

He said that the country’s stolen assets should be located, recovered, and returned with assistance from the EFCC.

In order to improve the performance of the commission, the AGF referred to upcoming legal framework strengthening measures that will improve the EFCC’s investigative and asset recovery skills.

He added that fighting corruption is best done within the bounds of the law and that the administration is dedicated to reducing the institutional and legal barriers slowing down the commission’s work.

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, echoed the call for officers to stay committed to cleaning up the business environment and supporting the nation’s efforts to attract foreign investments by tackling economic and financial crimes.

Olukoyede also praised the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and acknowledged the support of the Presidency and the National Assembly in completing the new EFCC office in Ilorin.
