Celine Dion’s Sister Says Singer Has No Control Over Muscle

Claudette Dion, the sister of renowned singer Celine Dion, shared an update on the artist’s ongoing battle with Stiff-Person Syndrome, News About Nigeria reports.

In a recent interview, Claudette revealed that the multiple Grammy winner is facing challenges in controlling certain muscle movements.

Claudette said that Celine Dion is currently struggling with a lack of control over her muscles, despite the singer’s persistent work ethic and dedication.

“She’s working hard, but she doesn’t have control over her muscles. What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined. She’s always worked hard.

“Our mother always told her, ‘You’re going to do it well, you’re going to do it properly.’ It’s true that in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know,” she said.

Celine Dion disclosed her diagnosis of Stiff-Person Syndrome a year ago, a rare neurological disorder characterised by painful muscle spasms and stiffness.

The diagnosis prompted the indefinite postponement of her highly anticipated Courage World Tour in May.

Dion, 55, expressed her deep disappointment at having to ‘let them down’ in a note to her fans.

She also provided an update on her ongoing efforts to regain her strength.

Recognising that touring can be challenging even in the best of circumstances, she decided to postpone all performances until she was ready to take the stage again.

In an August 2023 interview with Le Journal de Montréal, Claudette Dion expressed optimism about the ongoing search for medicinal remedies for Stiff-Person Syndrome.

She also revealed that their sister, Linda Dion, has relocated to Celine’s home to assist in caring for her three sons – René-Charles, Eddy, and Nelson.

The collective efforts of the family, including their aunt, are actively involved in supporting Celine’s treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery.
