Nigerian artiste Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, cleared the air on his recent performance at Harvesters International Gospel Center’s Christmas carol service in Lagos State on Sunday.
In a now-viral video on the internet, the ‘Only Fine Girl’ crooner was seen performing the song in a stage play at the church.
Reacting to Spyro’s performance, some criticised his performance while calling on Pastor Bolaji Idowu, who is the founder of the church, to stop desecrating the altar of God by inviting celebrities.
In reaction to the criticisms from netizens, Spyro took to his social media pages on Monday to explain that he never performed as an artiste in the church but only joined in the drama ministration.
According to him, he has been in the church for over seven years and currently serves in two of the church’s departments, which is why he took part in the drama ministration.
“The clip making the rounds on social media is of a drama I took part in at our annual carol service called Fantasia. The Carol was completely FREE for all. The tickets were free,” he wrote.
Spyro added that being a celebrity doesn’t stop him from serving God, as he is human and a Christian too.

Also, popular Nigerian actor Daniel Etim, in response to his performance in the church, explained that he was the director of the church’s Christmas play.
He also noted that he has been a member of the church for over 10 years and has the responsibility of serving his church with his gift.
Etim called on Nigerians to stop the criticism, which is aimed at destroying the name of the church, Pastor Bolaji and their members.
News About Nigeria reports that other celebrities who performed at the Christmas carol are; Bisola Ayeola, Dorathy Bachor, Sharon Ooja, Uzor Arukwe, Adeh Gbolahan, and Kenneth Ophopho.
