Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has extended an invitation to indigenes, urging them to return home for Christmas festivities, assuring them of improved safety in the state, News About Nigeria reports.
The governor maintained that Anambra is no longer a feared zone but a secure haven, enveloped in peace, joy, and goodwill during the festive season and beyond.
In a statement by the Press Secretary to the governor, Christian Aburime, Soludo pointed out the significant steps his administration has taken in the last few months to improve security, such as creating a Ministry of Homeland Affairs specifically tasked with security, forming tactical alliances with security agencies, and enabling vigilante groups in the community.
The statement mentioned that enhanced security measures have been taken, with increased surveillance, joint security patrols, and a fading presence of criminal elements.
While acknowledging the positive changes in areas like Upper Iweka, Onitsha, the governor reminded residents that maintaining security remains a collective responsibility.
Soludo encouraged communities to work hand-in-hand with the government and security agencies, assuring that the state is now equipped to handle festive traffic flow through the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency.
Additional security measures were promised to counter any potential threats during the holiday season.
“So come home without a doubt. Governor Soludo has put all necessary, detailed measures of security of lives and property in place, hand in hand with our security agencies and our local communities.
“Together, we will celebrate Christmas and New Year bathed in peace, suffused in joy, and glowing in the warmth of homecoming,” the statement read.
