Fresh Twist As Rivers APC Members Reject Call For Fubara's Impeachment

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has rejected claims of sabotage and vowed to relentlessly carry out his duty to serve, protect, and advance the state’s interests, News About Nigeria reports.

Speaking during the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers’ 115th and 116th Quarterly General Meetings on Thursday, Governor Fubara stressed his dedication to responsibility, humility, and sincerity in public office.

Governor Fubara acknowledged the difficult times ahead but told the public that he would not yield to intimidation, blackmail, or deliberate sabotage.

“Although these are trying times, let us not forget that Rivers State is our collective inheritance, presently under my watch, to protect, defend, and advance it as the governor.

“I assure you that I will not fail in this responsibility, nor will I surrender our mandate and progress to intimidation, blackmail, and deliberate sabotage.

“I reaffirm my earlier statement and recommit myself to the path of peace, as there is nothing to gain in a state of needless crisis,” he said.

The governor announced measures to improve social services, healthcare, and education with an emphasis on ensuring that everyone in the state, even those living in remote areas, has access to them.

Governor Fubara stressed in his speech the upcoming 2024 state budget, which would give financing for easily accessible and high-quality healthcare and education priority.

In addition to speaking on the importance of peace and security for sustainable development, Governor Fubara called for traditional rulers to maintain integrity, neutrality, and courage in their duties and to work to keep peace within their communities.

Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, the chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, called on troublemakers to stop their disagreements so that the governor could concentrate on his duties.

He declared that Governor Fubara is the most capable and reliable leader in the state and reaffirmed his support for the administration.
