A fire incident in the early hours of Monday in the Adealu area of Lagos State reportedly resulted in the death of one person.
Confirming the tragic incident, the Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, disclosed that the fire engulfed the upper floor of a storey building that has four flats.
She further disclosed that the quick intervention of emergency firefighters helped to curtail its spread.
Speaking further, the Lagos Fire Service boss, also revealed that a yet-to-be-identified male adult was a victim of the fire and was suspected to be dead as of the time the emergency responders got to the scene.
According to her, they received the distress call about the fire outbreak in the early hours of Monday morning.
She revealed that the fire started from the upper floor of a storey building consisting of four flats with two bedrooms used as residents.
The Fire was however confined to the rear flat on the upper floor where it emanated before eventually being put out.
“The building is a two-bedroom flat with household contents in it and one male adult was recovered (suspected dead).”
Adeseye also noted that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained by the Fire Service but investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause.
News About Nigeria also reports that a similar incidence occurred in the Ojota area of Lagos state where a diesel-laden truck also caught fire but was brought under control by the fire service team with no casualties recorded.
