On Monday, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, put forward a 2024 Appropriation Bill totaling N207.7 billion for the state, News About Nigeria reports.
The Appropriation Bill which was titled, “Budget of Continuity and Consolidation,” has N87.2bn as recurrent expenditure, representing 42 percent and N120.5bn as capital expenditure, representing 58 percent.
Speaking during the budget presentation at the state House of Assembly, the governor explained that the budget was targeted at consolidating the work his administration did in their first term in office.
Yahaya also stated that his administration would continue to provide for the developmental needs of the people of the state in the 2024 fiscal year.
According to him, in line with their goals to meet the people’s developmental needs, his administration has targeted, “N87,250,200,000.00 for recurrent expenditure representing 42 percent, and N120,500,000,000.00 for capital expenditure, representing 58 percent of the total budgeted sum.”
The Governor therefore charged the House to properly scrutinise the budget to provide constructive insights that will enrich the document and enhance its impacts on the lives and livelihoods of the people of the state.
Governor Yahaya further appreciated the State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, the judiciary, and the people of the state for their continuous support and cooperation towards ensuring that he served his second term in office.
The Governor also called on stakeholders together with residents of the state to partner with his administration towards building Gombe state.
Also speaking during the budget presentation, the Speaker of the House, Abubakar Luggerewo, assured Governor Yahaya that the budget would be given proper attention.
The Speaker of the House also lauded Governor Yahaya for his good works in the state and the construction of roads, schools and health centres in Gombe.
He further promised that the State Assembly would continue to give the governor all the necessary support he needs to move Gombe state forward.
