The immediate past chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, has revealed that the impeachment notice given to the governor of Rivers State, Governor Simileyin Fubara, is null and void, News About Nigeria reports.
He stated this in an interview with PUNCH.
According to him, the impeachment notice was issued out of annoyance.
He said the elders of the party have discussed the matter with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who is also the immediate past governor of the state.
Following this discussion, a meeting was held with the governor, and the issue has been settled, he claimed.
On why Governor Fubara’s 100 days in office were not celebrated, he noted that every governor has his own peculiar style. He pointed out that Governor Fubara was more interested in commissioning projects than celebrating his 100 days in office.
He added that politics is different from governance, citing Lagos state during the time of Raji Fashola and Bola Tinubu. He explained that Tinubu was in charge of politics, and Fashola was in charge of governance, maintaining that the most important thing is that governance is taking place.
However, he warned those spreading fake news on social media to desist from such acts, alleging they were being sponsored by other political parties to create disharmony and disunity within the PDP.
According to him, the party will not hesitate to go after such people.
He also urged the people of Rivers State to put whatever they have seen or heard behind them as the issues have been settled.
