The Nigerian Army expressed concern on Tuesday about the rising prevalence of fake recruitment advertisements and online portals, News About Nigeria reports.

In a statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, citizens were urged to exercise caution when encountering such advertisements and portals.

He said these deceptive advertisements and portals are typically associated with its Direct Short Service program.

The Army emphasized that the individuals behind these counterfeit advertisements aim to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians aspiring to join the force.

Nwachukwu also cautioned Nigerians interested in joining the service to dismiss these advertisements, as they originate from fraudulent entities seeking to scam them.

The Public Relations Officer elaborated that the online Direct Short Service Portal 2023 is a scam and advised prospective candidates to steer clear of it.

Furthermore, he assured the public that the Army had implemented measures to apprehend those responsible for the fake advertisements and portals.

Nwachukwu emphasized the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring a transparent and credible recruitment process through its official communication channels. These official channels include https://army.mil.ng, Twitter @HQNigerianArmy, Facebook (Headquarters of the Nigerian Army), and other reputable media outlets.

He urged the general public to rely exclusively on these official platforms for accurate information, cautioning that any other sources are likely to be fraudulent.

The Army PRO also encouraged members of the public to report any recruitment advertisements or portals that do not originate from the officially listed communication channels of the service.
