Imo Suspends Extension Of Service For Civil Servants

Hours before the Imo gubernatorial election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) filed a petition with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Governor Hope Uzodimma and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party emphasised the APC’s and Governor Uzodimma’s purported involvement in producing and disseminating a phoney video disparaging Senator Samuel Anyanwu, its candidate for governor of Imo state.

In a statement released by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national press secretary, the party denounced the video as nasty and shameful, charging Governor Uzodimma of going to unprecedented lengths to mislead the people of Imo.

The party claims that the manipulated and fraudulent video demonstrates Governor Uzodimma’s worry about Senator Anyanwu’s standing and his recourse to dishonesty to reduce his prospects in the November 11 election.

The management of TVC was commended by the party for promptly retracting and rejecting the fictitious use of its name, symbol, and inscription to deceive the people of Imo state.

According to News About Nigeria, the PDP urged the people of Imo to disregard the phoney video as completely false, reiterating that Senator Anyanwu, its candidate, is still in the race for the Imo state governorship election.

“The PDP affirms that Senator Anyanwu, our nominee, is still very much in the running for governor. The previously described video is completely false, thus, the people of Imo should disregard it.

“Governor Uzodimma ought to withdraw from the contest; he has shown without a reasonable doubt that he is unfit to participate in a calm, free, transparent, and fair election.

“The PDP calls on INEC to disqualify the APC and Governor Uzodimma as their reported involvement in producing and circulating the fake video constitutes a gross violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, the Nigerian Criminal Code and Cyber Crime Law,” the party stated in a statement.
