PDP Suspends Dino Melaye For Anti-Party Activities In Kogi

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party at the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State, Dino Melaye, on Thursday said that the State Governor, Yahaya Bello, had imported thugs from Ogun Lagos and Oyo State to intimidate voters during the polls next weekend.

News About Nigeria reports that Melaye made this accusation during a press conference on Thursday, saying that the governor of Kogi State was trying to use force in the upcoming governorship election next weekend.

The former senator further claimed that Governor Bello had supplied APC goons with fake police uniforms and camouflage so they could parade as police officers and troops on election day and terrorize innocent state residents.

“Intelligence available to our campaign reveals that the APC has sown fake police uniforms, camouflage which has already been brought into Kogi state had has ready to be distributed among APC thugs to parade as policemen and soldiers and unleash terror on innocent kogites on election day,” Melaye said.

“Hired thugs have also been invited from Lagos and Saki in Oyo State,” the man added.

Melaye made his remark as the state prepared for the out-of-cycle gubernatorial election. Melaye intends to end the reign of the ruling party in the state house as he runs for the state governorship on the platform of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Bello is not running for office, but the state governor is still trying to help Usman Ododo, the candidate of his party, secure the governorship seat at the off-cycle election next weekend.
