Atiku Condemns NNPC For Lack Of Transparency Amid $6 Billion Debt

The Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, stated on Monday that the Supreme Court had failed Nigerians by legalising forgery and illegality when it upheld President Bola Tinubu’s victory, News About Nigeria reports.

Atiku expressed his opposition to the Supreme Court’s decision during the PDP’s conference held today in Abuja.

He further emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision, as the highest court in the nation, implies that there will be no more punishment for crime in Nigeria, allowing criminals to assume leadership positions in the country.

According to him, the Supreme Court’s decision not only affects him but also has significant implications for Nigeria, as the country is now perceived as a nation of forgers and identity thieves and a place where perjury is considered legal.

In his own words, Atiku said, “Someone asked me what I would do if I lost my election petition appeal at the Supreme Court. In response, I stated that as long as Nigeria wins, the struggle will have been worthwhile. By that, I mean that the bigger loss will not be mine but Nigeria’s if the Supreme Court legitimizes illegality, including forgery, identity theft, and perjury, as it has done.”

Atiku also lamented that if the apex court of the land implies that crime is acceptable and should be rewarded, then Nigeria has lost, and the country is doomed, regardless of who occupies the presidential seat.

The PDP chieftain also pointed out that Nigerians are well aware of President Tinubu, how he came into power, and the potential dangers of his remaining in office. He urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to decide what they want to do with the knowledge they have about the President and how they can reclaim the nation.

Atiku also vowed that, despite the Supreme Court’s judgment, he has no intention of giving up. He noted that for as long as he lives, he will continue to struggle with other Nigerians to deepen democracy, uphold the rule of law, and advocate for the political and economic restructuring the country needs to realize its true potential.
