The University of Abuja’s Governing Council announced a significant academic milestone on Thursday as they approved the promotion of 23 academic staff members to higher ranks, News About Nigeria reports.
A statement from the university’s Director of Public Relations, Dr Habib Yakoob, highlighted the achievement, with 13 staff members promoted to the prestigious rank of professor and an additional 10 achieving the rank of associate professor.
These promotions cover a range of academic disciplines, including education foundation, medical microbiology, geography, environmental science, history and diplomatic studies, and soil science, among others.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, congratulated the newly promoted staff members, commending their dedication and significant contributions to their respective fields.
He emphasised the role these academics play in advancing knowledge and inspiring future generations, encouraging them to continue their pursuit of excellence and mentorship.
Na’Allah said, “This is a well-deserved recognition of your dedication. Your promotions not only reflect your individual accomplishments but also serve as a testament to the University’s commitment to nurturing and supporting its academic community.
“You have all consistently demonstrated your unwavering commitment to your respective fields. I will ask you not to relent in impacting your field of knowledge. I encourage you to embrace your roles as mentors, innovators, and catalysts for positive change, help to push the boundaries of knowledge, engage in more groundbreaking research, and inspire the next generation of thinkers and leaders.”
