President Bola Tinubu and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, together with his Labour Party’s counterpart are absent from the supreme court in Abuja, News About Nigeria reports.

The court is expected to deliver judgment today (Thursday) on Atiku and Obi’s appeals against the tribunal’s judgment on September 6, 2023, which affirmed President Tinubu’s victory at the February 25, 2023, presidential poll.

The decision of the Supreme Court as the apex court of the Nation is final on the matter and the justices are now in the court, ready to give their judgment.

Already present in the court are; the Chief of Staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila; FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike; APC national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure.

News About Nigeria had reported that, during the hearings on Monday, Peter Obi and the Labour Party through their lead counsel, Livy Uzokwu (SAN) appealed to the court to disqualify Tinubu on the grounds that he did not win the 2023 Presidential Election and was not qualified to run in the first place.

Atiku and the PDP through their Lead Counsel, Chris Uche (SAN) also appealed to the Apex Court to accept fresh evidence on Tinubu’s alleged forged documents from Chicago State University (CSU).

They further urged the court to grant their prayers which sought to disqualify Tinubu, the Candidate APC.

However, Wole Olanipekun(SAN) who is the lead counsel for President Tinubu, and Akin Olujinmi for APC urged the court to dismiss both the motion and appeal by the parties for lacking in merit.

The counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abubakar Mahmoud also prayed the court to dismiss the appeals by both parties.
