President Bola Tinubu has appointed Olamide Obagbemileke, a 400-level student in the Department of Economics at Kwara State University (KWASU), to the prestigious Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

News About Nigeria gathered that her role in the committee will be as a research assistant and analyst.

The announcement of Obagbemileke’s appointment was made by the university in a tweet on Thursday evening, October 12.

Her appointment letter was signed by Bomate Ogaree-Lawson, a policy and research analyst who also serves as the executive assistant to the Chairman of the Presidential Committee.

President Tinubu inaugurated the committee on August 8 at the presidential villa in Abuja, where he appointed Taiwo Oyedele as the chairman of the committee.

Notably, Orire Agbaje, a 400-level economics student from the University of Ibadan, was also appointed to the committee earlier.

The president’s decision to establish the committee was a strategic move to enhance fiscal policies and tax reforms in the nation.

The appointment of Agbaje was attributed to her role as the president of the tax club at her university.

With this recent development, Olamide Obagbemileke became the second undergraduate student to be appointed to the prestigious presidential committee since its inauguration.

She is expected to collaborate with the committee for three months while serving as the committee’s student ambassador.

The university’s tweet expressed confidence in Obagbemileke’s capabilities, stating, “I have no doubt that your enthusiasm, dedication, and fresh perspectives will greatly benefit our Committee and help us achieve our goals.”
