The Lagos State Police Command has officially declared a 26-year-old man, Benjamin Best Nnanyereugo, wanted in connection with the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Tuesday, the suspect, Nnanyereugo, is believed to be responsible for the tragic death of 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion.
The incident is said to have occurred on July 13, 2023, at Nnanyereugo’s residence in Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos.
Having exhausted all available avenues to apprehend the suspect, the Lagos State Police Command has officially declared him wanted.
Nnanyereugo is described as a 26-year-old individual, standing at approximately 5 feet 9 inches in height, hailing from Abia State.
He has a dark complexion and is fluent in English, Igbo, and pidgin English.
The police have urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of Benjamin Best Nnanyereugo to contact the nearest police station.
“Following the exhaustion of all available options to bring him in, he is declared wanted.
“The suspect is 26 years old, approximately 5’9 ft tall and hails from Abia State. He is dark in complexion and speaks English, Igbo and pidgin English fluently.
“If seen, please contact the nearest police station or call 0803 688 5727,” SP Hundeyin stated.
News About Nigeria reports that the development follows earlier admissions by Nnanyereugo, who is also known as ‘Killaboi’ in a series of posts on his Instagram page.
In these posts, he confessed to having stabbed the deceased during a heated argument and subsequently fleeing out of fear.
“I got into an argument with my girlfriend @austa xxo which fight I mistakenly stabbed her and ran away out of fear and been suicidal since then(sic). I intend to end my life now cause I have lost the one I cherish so much.
“I want to do the right thing and turn myself in. I will gladly die by paying with my life now,” he wrote in one of his numerous posts on his Insta Stories.
His confessions led to public outrage and calls for his immediate arrest.
