The family of the late Ayodele Bosede has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to revisit the murder case of the deceased, who was allegedly killed by a suspected cultist named Imole in Owo, Ondo State, in 2022.
Ayodele Bosede was reportedly murdered by the suspected cultist, Imole, in the ancient town of Owo. Imole was subsequently arrested by the police and charged to court, facing a three-count charge related to murder, conspiracy to commit various felonies and cultism.
The charges included parading as a member of the Eiye Secret Cult, conspiring to commit murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism, and the murder of a driver named Abubakar Zakari and a Nigeria Army CPL Saidu Baba.
The Chief Magistrate, A.O Adedapo, did not take the plea of the accused and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody. The case was adjourned until the Department of Public Prosecution of the state Ministry of Justice could file its legal advice.
However, the family of the deceased expressed concerns when they learned that the Department of Public Prosecution had recommended a ‘no case to answer’ verdict for all charges against the defendant, leading to his release by the court.
News About Nigeria gathered that the family now fears potential reprisal attacks by the freed suspect on their members and friends.
The widow of the deceased, Iyabo, revealed that the suspect had been making threats since his release and called on the Inspector General of Police to rearrest the suspect to answer for the charges related to the killing of their family’s breadwinner.
The family emphasised the hardship faced by the children and dependents of the deceased as a result of his tragic death and expressed the urgent need for justice in the case.
