The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the appointment of Dr Amos Josiah Dangut as the new Head of the Nigeria National Office, News About Nigeria gathered.
He will succeed Patrick Areghan, whose tenure concludes this month.
According to the statement made available, Dr. Dangut previously served as the Deputy Registrar in the HNO’s office before his appointment as the Head of the Nigeria National Office.
His career at WAEC began in 1998 when he joined as an Assistant Registrar II. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, becoming a Deputy Registrar in April 2018.
Dangut’s commitment to transparent examination conduct earned him a commendation from the Nigeria Examinations Committee for his work between 2000 and 2006.
He has held various roles within WAEC, including Assistant Registrar/Subject Officer, Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security and Deputy to the Branch Controller, and Deputy Registrar/Controller, among others.
Born on October 2, 1967, in Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, Dr. Dangut completed his education at Government Secondary School, Riyom, and Government Science School, Kuru, where he obtained his WASC/SC in 1986.
He later attended the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, where he earned a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production in 1991.
Dr Dangut has utilised Information and Communications Technology to enhance processes in Test Development, Test Administration, and Post-Test Activities over the past 25 years.
He is also an accomplished scholar with several educational publications in international and national journals and has presented numerous keynotes and papers at international and national conferences and forums.
