Nigerian musician and activist, Seun Kuti, has shared his perspective on the popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), in a recent video.

In his commentary, Seun Kuti highlighted the show’s primary focus on entertainment and questioned whether it could be designed to address critical national issues and inspire solutions.

News About Nigeria reports that Seun Kuti argued that BBNaija, like many reality shows, primarily serves as a source of entertainment and investment for its viewers and organizers.

However, he suggested that the same platform could be used differently.

The musician proposed an alternative vision for the show, one that promotes meaningful discussions among young people about the challenges facing Nigeria.

According to him, participants would work together to identify and propose solutions to the country’s issues.

Viewers would then have the opportunity to vote for the best solutions, turning the show into a platform for constructive dialogue and national development.

“Big Brother is because of the investment it is pulling in. It is designed by certain people to be that way.

“The same people that designed Big Brother could have designed it to be a show where young people discuss the issues of this country and come up with solutions. And other young people, viewers, can vote for the best solution.

“People are going from entertainment to solutions and national development

“They are investing in solutions for national development,” he said.

The ongoing BBNaija All Stars season will wrap up next Sunday, October 1. Six housemates – Cross, Ilebaye, Cee-C, Mercy Eke, Adekunle and Pere – made it to the finals and will compete for the grand prize of N120 million.
