The proprietor and principal of Abifab College Ikorodu, Lagos, where late music talent Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, attended secondary school, has expressed disappointment that Mohbad joined Marlian group after acing his WAEC on first sitting.
The principal, while shedding light on the controversy surrounding his life and death, stated that Mohbad could have had a better life.
Mohbad passed away under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, with a quick and unceremonious burial.
His demise raised questions and concerns, especially regarding the struggles he faced after parting ways with his former record label, Marlian Records, owned by controversial singer Naira Marley.
Abidemi Faboye, the school principal, revealed that Mohbad, despite not being an exceptional student, displayed maturity beyond his years.
He recalled that Mohbad excelled in the National Examination Council senior secondary certificate exam in 2015, passing in one sitting.
“He was 17 years old and was a bit more mature than some of his classmates. He wrote the National Examination Council senior secondary certificate exam in 2015 and made his papers in one sitting.”
“He spent two years in the school, and there was a transformation in his life. He always called me, ‘daddy’. I always wanted my students to call me ‘Abifab’ or ‘Mr. Abifab’, but he found it difficult to call me that.
“Whenever Promise (Ilerioluwa) called me ‘daddy’, I would tell him to call me ‘Abifab’; and he would just laugh,” Faboye added.
Faboye expressed his surprise at Mohbad’s association with the Marlian group, considering his personality during his school days. He mentioned that he had doubts about whether Mohbad could cope with such a group.
Meanwhile, News About Nigeria had earlier reported that the police have initiated investigations into the cause of Mohbad’s death, including an autopsy examination after exhuming his body.
