Atiku Abubakar of the PDP has congratulated Plateau state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, after the governorship election tribunal upheld his victory at the state governorship election.
Congratulating the governor in a tweet on Friday, Atiku hailed the governor for his commitment to the people.
“Congratulations to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, @CalebMutfwang, on the affirmation of your victory at the Plateau State Election Tribunal. Your leadership and commitment to the people remain unyielding. Here’s to an impactful and prosperous tenure ahead,” Abubakar wrote.
News About Nigeria had earlier reported that the Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which is based in Jos, dismissed on Friday the petition filed by All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate Nentawe Goshwe challenging the election victory of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
Nentawe had contacted the Tribunal to contest INEC’s declaration of Mutfwang as Governor of Plateau State on the grounds that Mutfwang was not eligible to run at the time of the election because he had not been duly nominated and sponsored by his Party (PDP) as the candidate.

In their ruling, the tribunal held that matters related to the nomination and sponsorship of a candidate fall under pre-election matters.
The Court also said that it found no evidence to suggest that the gubernatorial election that produced Mutfwang as Governor violated the law.
