Temmie Ovwasa, the Nigerian singer formerly known as YBNL Princess during her time with the YBNL record label, has come forward with allegations of mistreatment by her former label boss Olamide and his wife, Aisha Adebukunmi.
The Kwara-born artiste claimed that while signed to YBNL, Olamide’s wife treated her as an ‘errand girl’ and publicly humiliated her, repeatedly referring to her as ‘poor’.
News About Nigeria reports that she expressed her dissatisfaction with the way she was treated, especially when they appeared together in public.
In her Instagram story, Ovwasa shared her experiences, stating that she entered the music industry to sing and that Olamide promoted her as the ‘princess’ during public appearances.
However, behind the scenes, she felt disrespected by Adebukunmi, who constantly reminded her of her humble background from Ilorin.
She also accused Pheelz, a former YBNL in-house producer, of carelessly misplacing a hard drive containing 25 unreleased songs from her.
Despite spending five years at YBNL, Ovwasa claimed she only released four songs during her time with the label.
Since parting ways with YBNL, Temmie Ovwasa has recorded and released three albums and expressed her frustration at not being able to release more music during her tenure with the label.
“I got into the music industry to sing, Olamide carried me on his head and paraded me as the ‘princess’ but once the cameras were off I was in a house with his disrespectful a$$ classist wife who made it her mission to remind me that I was a poor girl that they brought from Ilorin to change her life.
“I’d go out with this woman and she’d humiliate me publicly! When people ask for pictures she made it her mission to remind me that I was broke,” she wrote on her Instastory.
