A heated conversation erupted between Nigerian rapper Skales and Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police spokesperson, regarding the recent death of the fast-rising singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The 27-year-old singer passed away on Tuesday and was laid to rest the following day, News About Nigeria reported.
The cause of Mohbad’s death remains uncertain, with initial reports suggesting it was due to an ear infection, which has since sparked controversy on social media.
However, additional video clips have emerged on social media, revealing alleged attacks on Mohbad during his dispute with Marlian Records, his former label.
Skales took to Twitter to express his concerns, criticising the police for not thoroughly investigating the cause of Mohbad’s death.
He said that the truth is clear but nothing would be done about it and lamented that “they made life miserable for that kid (Mohbad).”
In response to Skales’ tweets, Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police PRO, advised the rapper to report the case and file a complaint at the police station instead of addressing the matter on social media.
“Twitter is not police station! Twitter is not police station!! Twitter is not police station!!! May his soul rest in peace, Amen.”
Skales, seemingly angered by Edafe’s response, asked the police officer to hsut up, describing him as a criminal.
“I’m sure you’re smarter than this. My friend will you shuttup…stupid criminals,” Skales responded.
In return, Edafe taunted Skales, suggesting that he was too busy to help the rapper revive his music career.
“Is like Skales wants to use me to revive his music career. Well, I am too busy for that. As I said if he feels there is a matter to be investigated, he can on behalf of the family make an official complaint at the police station.”
