Following the ongoing debate about President Bola Tinubu’s educational background, a public affairs analyst, Durojaiye Ogunsanya, has come forward to claim they shared academic journey at Chicago State University (CSU), News About Nigeria reports.
President Tinubu’s educational credentials have been a topic of scrutiny for many years, with opposition parties seeking any potential gaps that could raise questions about his presidency.
Tinubu’s critics have questioned why the two-time Lagos State Governor has not publicly acknowledged any former classmates from his time at the institution, raising doubts about his attendance.
The controversy escalated to the international scene when former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, filed a legal suit in the United States, requesting access to Tinubu’s Chicago University records.
However, in an exclusive interview with TVC News, Durojaiye Ogunsanya laid claims to the matter that have now gone viral. The public affairs analyst confirmed that he and President Tinubu had indeed attended Chicago State University and graduated together in 1979.
During the interview, Ogunsanya stated, “We met in school at Chicago State University, where we were both enrolled in the College of Accounting Business and Administrative, majoring in Accounting. We shared the same classes, and we graduated together in 1979.”
He emphasized that his intent in coming forward was not for personal gains or favour but to set the record straight. Ogunsanya also provided evidence of his diploma as proof of their shared academic journey.
Recall that Chicago State University recently locked its X account, following comments on their timeline from opposition parties who accuse them of covering for a drug lord. The University has also failed to provide Tinubu’s academic records and is currently in court with Atiku’s lawyers for the same purpose.
