VP Shettima Inaugurates 140 Security Vehicles, ₦5.1 Billion Food Items In Sokoto

Following the rising insecurity challenges and economic hardship orchestrated by the removal of fuel subsidy in Sokoto state, the state government has moved to help bolster the welfare of its citizens.

Vice President Kashim Shettima in a courtesy visit to the state, has inaugurated a fleet of 140 vehicles valued at ₦6.6 billion for various purposes in the State.

These vehicles which were procured to mark Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s 100 days in office, include those for security agencies and intra and inter-state transport services.

In addition to this, about ₦5.1 billion worth of food items were also distributed to vulnerable residents of the state as palliatives, News About Nigeria gathered.

Shettima praised the governor for his good efforts to improve the lives of citizens in the state, highlighting that Aliyu had also recently inaugurated 500 housing schemes and made substantial achievements in infrastructural development, including building of new roads and flyovers.

The Vice President also stressed the importance of supporting security agencies, noting that it would enhance their ability to safeguard lives and properties. He also commended BUA Cement Company for providing 10 Hilux vehicles to support the state government’s security efforts.

Meanwhile the former Governor of Sokoto State, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko, received accolades for his support and encouragement, while Shettima urged citizens to rally behind the current administration’s determination to enhance the lives of the people.

Governor Aliyu provided details about the 140 vehicles, which includes 40 Hilux vehicles, 22 Bufferlos vans for security operatives, 50 buses for interstate transport, and 20 cars for women participating in the intercity transportation system.
