Terry Backs Pochettino, Hails Sterling’s Impact Amid Chelsea’s Early Season Struggles

Former Chelsea captain and legend, John Terry, has voiced his confidence in Mauricio Pochettino’s managerial abilities, despite the club’s underperformance at the start of the season, News About Nigeria reports.

Chelsea currently boast of only four points from their opening four games in the English Premier League, with losses against West Ham and Nottingham Forest. However, the former England player believes Pochettino can still turn things around for the acclaimed Pride of London.

Terry expressed his optimism, acknowledging the challenges posed by the team’s youthful arrangement and the recent injuries they have endured.

He stated, “We’ve seen over the years with his experience with him and what he’s done previously. We are a young squad; they’ve just been thrown together, haven’t they? There’s a lot of talent there… I can see it as more of a kind of blending, and then we will see where we go next season.”

Terry also seized the opportunity to praise fellow English compatriot, Raheem Sterling, for his style of play and recent contributions to the team’s performances.

“I watched him specifically, the West Ham game he was unbelievable… People like Gabs [Gabby Agbonlahor] and Sterling, when they run in behind, it’s difficult. If he continues to do that, he’ll be great for us this year.”

While Sterling was not selected among players for England’s international duty, Terry sees it as a positive development for Chelsea, as it will allow the 28-year-old forward to focus on contributing to the club’s success in their upcoming games.
