Winner of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Level Up season, Ijeoma Otabor, also known as Phyna, has said that virtually every woman has experienced one or two abortions in their lifetime.
In a conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the reality star clarified that this statement was made in the context of a conversation she had while inside the BBN house when discussing her own past experience with abortion.
Phyna said that she did not intend for her remarks on abortion to become public through an interview, News About Nigeria reports.
Explaining further, she mentioned that the conversation on abortion took place among housemates during her time in the Big Brother house.
She expressed her surprise that her comments from that conversation had garnered attention outside the house.
Phyna revealed that the interview in question was conducted via phone after she exited the Big Brother house.
She acknowledged that she initially considered taking the matter seriously to protect her image, given her recent emergence from the show and the importance of brand building.
However, she realised that the interview was based on what viewers had witnessed on television, and it was not an intentional interview she had given to the media.
“When I was in the house, there was a conversation and everyone was talking. Before I come to that, the issue of abortion…na who talk hin own dem know right?
“There’s no woman that will tell me she has not done it once or twice do you get? Now, I didn’t give that interview to these people. It was a conversation in the house and I wasn’t the only one that said things. People said whatever,” she said.
