Nigerian music sensation Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake, has revealed the international artiste he would love to have a music collaboration with, News About Nigeria gathered.
In an interview with Billboard News, the ‘Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)’ hitmaker revealed his desire to collaborate with American billionaire rapper, Kanye West.
According to Asake, he prefers working with artists with whom he shares a genuine connection.
He explained that it’s important for him to genuinely like the person he collaborates with, not just for their musical prowess but also for their personality and energy.
“For me, I need to like the person before I can make music with you. I need to be comfortable with you. Not even because of the music alone.
“I’m not saying I can’t make music with other people but I like real energy. If you like me beyond the music, it’s good. But I need to connect with your music, I need to like the person I want to work with first so it won’t be a problem for me. There must be synergy.
“I have been saying this thing since; maybe God will do it. I will like to work with Kanye [West].”
Speaking on the global expansion of the Afrobeats genre, Asake expressed his enthusiasm, likening it to watching a child grow.
He said that it’s a source of pride to witness Afrobeats gaining international recognition and predicted that its growth would continue in the coming years.
“It is like you having a baby and your baby is growing. You know, you feel good when you have something around you and the thing is growing.
“In a couple of years, it [Afrobeats] will be bigger,” he said.
