Spokesman to President Bola Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu will not interfere with the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Reiterating the President’s commitment to ensuring that the tribunal delivers its judgment based on merit, Ngelale claimed that the president was not bothered about the outcome of the tribunal.

“He (Tinubu) is not worried simply because he knows he won the election,” Ajuri Ngelale while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday said.

“The President sees no need to threaten judicial officers. He sees no need to raise speculations against the integrity of judicial officers; he believes in the sanctity and integrity of the Nigerian judicial system, and he believes the great men and women on the panel will make their decisions based only on the facts before them.

He said Tinubu will continue to ensure that no matter what the outcome of the judgment is, the President will play his part and ensure that institutions continue to be respected, not just by him, but by all actors.

News About Nigeria reports that the presidential spokesman’s comment comes as supporters of opposition parties continue to express worries over an alleged plot by the President to influence the tribunal’s verdict in his favour.

While the President is abroad attending the G-20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, India, the Tribunal will issue its ruling.

Umar Bangari, the Court of Appeal’s Registrar, stated earlier on Monday that the Tribunal would issue its rulings on the cases it had heard contesting Tinubu’s election victory on February 25, 2023.

The court further declared that interested television stations may stream live coverage of the proceedings.
