Former aviation minister and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Femi Fani Kayode has knocked the President Bola Tinubu-led ECOWAS for its decision to deploy standby troops to Niger.
News About Nigeria had earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu-led ECOWAS had ordered standby troops to Niger. The directive was issued after a meeting of ECOWAS leaders in Abuja on Thursday.
The directive came despite much opposition to using military might to restore the West African nation to democratic rule. many have warned the Nigerian government that Nigeria will be at the receiving end if ECOWAS decides to go to war against the Niger Junta government.
However, in a tweet on Friday, Femi Fani Kayode who worked for the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the recently held presidential election faulted moves to deploy Nigerian troops to Niger.
“Deploying our troops into our neigbours country in an attempt to effect regime-change on behalf of a bunch of power-obsessed, butt-f*cking, cunt-struck feral psychopaths like the French whose primary dream and fantasy has always been the dismemberment, destabilisation and destruction of Nigeria is asinine and unacceptable,” tweet by Fani Kayode read.
The former minister suggested that it was wrong for Nigerian troops to do the dirty job of “a nation that stood on the wrong side during our civil war and that almost pushed us into a war with the Cameroons over the Bakassi Peninsular is deeply insulting to our sensibilities. ”
Stating that he is not in support of the Niger military Junta, Mr Fani-Kayode however stated that he could not stomach the way in which Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso have threatened, insulted and made mockery of our nation and people over the last few days
