The Super Falcons of Nigeria have returned to the country after their participation in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The team’s journey in the tournament came to an end at the Round of 16 stage, where they faced a formidable challenge from England.

Despite a spirited performance, the Nigerian team was eliminated in a penalty shootout, with England emerging victorious.

Recall that News About Nigeria earlier reported that Randy Waldrum, the head coach of the Super Falcons, departed the team’s camp a few hours after their elimination, accompanied by several diaspora players.

Notable players who left with Waldrum for the United States include Michelle Alozie, Jennifer Echegini, Esther Okoronkwo, Ifeoma Onumonu, Deborah Abiodun, and Toni Payne.

Former Leicester City defender Ashleigh Plumptre is also headed to the United Kingdom.

Some members of the team, including prominent players like Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Gift Monday, and Rofiat Imuran, arrived at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday night.

They were received by officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), along with other dignitaries, showcasing appreciation for the team’s effort throughout the World Cup campaign.
