Chelsea are not giving up on their quest for Brighton’s midfielder Moises Caicedo, News About Nigeria reports.

The Blues, under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, are reportedly preparing a fourth bid for the Ecuadorian and this time, the offer is expected to reach £90 million.

While Brighton is holding firm with their £100 million asking price and intends to keep Caicedo at the Amex for the upcoming season, Chelsea remains optimistic about striking a deal.

The recent agreement between the two clubs for the transfer of Spanish goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to Stamford Bridge has fostered a positive relationship, which could work in Chelsea’s favour.

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has been persistent in his pursuit of Caicedo, having seen previous bids of £60 million, £70 million, and £80 million rejected.

Pochettino views Caicedo as the ideal midfield partner for Argentinian World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues’ midfield options have undergone significant changes this summer, with several departures, including N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Matteo Kovacic, Mason Mount, and loanee Denis Zakaria.

Conor Gallagher is currently the only senior midfielder available, with young prospects Carney Chukwuemeka and Andrey Santos as potential options.

Brighton were previously approached by Chelsea and Arsenal for Caicedo’s signature during the January transfer window. The player himself has expressed his admiration for Chelsea, stating he “can’t say no” to the club.

Despite his desire to play at a higher level, Brighton’s owner, Tony Bloom, is determined to hold out for the £100 million valuation.

There have been reports of bids from other clubs, including a mystery club and an unnamed Saudi Arabian side, but no deal has been struck so far.

Pochettino has made it clear that adding a midfielder is a priority for Chelsea, and the club is actively working towards fulfilling that need.
