Al Hilal, the Saudi Pro League club, has made another audacious bid for Napoli’s striker, Victor Osimhen, a staggering €140m or N117b offer, coupled with enticing weekly wages of £1m or N975m, News About Nigeria reports.
It could be said that Al Hilal’s ambition knows no bounds, as they had previously attempted to lure Paris St-Germain’s superstar, Kylian Mbappe, with a jaw-dropping bid of €300m.
However, the French forward declined their advances, choosing to stay put at PSG.
Al Hilal’s pursuit of footballing legends didn’t end there, as they also had their sights set on none other than Lionel Messi before his move to Inter Miami. These bold moves showcase Al Hilal’s determination to establish itself as a global powerhouse in football.
While Napoli is reluctant to part ways with their prized asset, they might consider a substantial offer above €150m. Osimhen’s stellar performances in Serie A, where he topped the goal-scoring charts and helped Napoli secure the league title, have undoubtedly elevated his market value.
Intriguingly, Manchester United had also expressed interest in acquiring Osimhen during this transfer window. Negotiations for a new contract between Napoli and the player have stalled, opening the door for Al Hilal’s audacious bid.
Sky Italy reported a recent meeting between Napoli and Osimhen’s agent, which failed to yield an agreement on a contract extension. The striker’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2025, adding pressure on Napoli to resolve the situation.
Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, previously confirmed the club’s desire to secure Osimhen’s services for an extended period. A proposed two-year contract extension was on the table, but Al Hilal’s tempting offer may force Napoli’s hand to consider other options.
