Inter Milan has reportedly pulled out from Romelu Lukaku‘s deal, following a failed initial bid to Chelsea earlier this week, News About Nigeria gathered.
The deal which seemed imminent, is now officially off. Inter’s decision comes as a result of a culmination of fury, learning about talks between Lukaku and Italian rivals Juventus, as well as Chelsea’s demand for an increase from their (Inter) earlier bid.
This surprising development leaves Juventus and a potential Saudi club as the remaining options for the Belgian forward’s future.
However, a move to Juventus can only materialize if they manage to offload Dusan Vlahović.
The Turin-based club will need to find a suitable buyer for the Serbian striker in order to proceed with their pursuit of Lukaku.
Despite the deal falling through with Inter Milan, Chelsea’s plans to let the player go remain unchanged.
Lukaku is expected to rejoin the Blues on Monday, although he won’t be traveling with the squad to the United States for their preseason tour.
The situation has reportedly strained Lukaku’s relationship with Mauricio Pochettino, as the Chelsea hierarchy is open to let the Belgian leave the club.
With negotiations abruptly terminated, Lukaku’s future now lies in the hands of Juventus, the Saudi club, or any other interested parties willing to meet the €40 million valuation set by Chelsea.
The striker’s departure from Inter Milan seemed imminent, but this sudden twist has thrown his destination into uncertainty.
As the summer transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on Lukaku’s next move and the resolution of this high-stakes transfer saga.
