Popular fast-food chain KFC has been accused of concealing the body of one of its employees, Anita Chinwedu, who reportedly died while on duty at the restaurant on Friday, July 7, 2023, News About Nigeria reports.

The allegation surfaced after Chinwedu’s family noticed their daughter’s sudden disappearance and grew concerned about her whereabouts.

The family promptly raised their suspicions, claiming that the restaurant had failed to disclose the circumstances surrounding her death and had refused to release her body.

According to a family member, KFC purportedly informed them that Chinwedu had collapsed and passed away while at work.

However, the family alleged that the restaurant provided conflicting information, with a police officer suggesting that she had been electrocuted.

The family member expressed their distress, stating, “She had only been working at KFC for two months. Last Friday, she was said to have slumped at around 11 PM. KFC claimed she screamed and fell while trying to hang her washed clothes. They said they rushed her to the hospital, but the first hospital refused her due to a lack of a deposit. She was then taken to a second hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.”

Shockingly, the family claimed that KFC took it upon themselves to transport Chinwedu’s body to the morgue without notifying her relatives.

Furthermore, they alleged that both the restaurant and the police have been uncooperative in revealing the location where her body was deposited.

“We believe they are attempting to cover up something. We don’t think she simply fell like that. KFC claims she screamed and fell, yet they didn’t contact her family, who reside nearby. They took her to the hospital without informing us and proceeded to take her body to the morgue,” the family member further stated. “Even the police made an entry without informing the family, seeking to distance us from the situation.”

These serious allegations against KFC have ignited public outrage, with many demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Anita Chinwedu’s tragic death.

Concerns are mounting regarding potential negligence on the part of the restaurant, as well as the lack of transparency and cooperation in handling the matter.

Authorities have been called upon to intervene and shed light on the situation, ensuring a fair and impartial investigation.

The public eagerly awaits further developments in this distressing case that has shaken the reputation of the beloved fast-food chain.
